A New Tune for June

by Lindy

May was unofficially the month of getting the 6-year-old moved into his new bedroom.

So instead of working on The Selling of the Stuff, I spent all my time employing my worst Photoshop skills to make fussy room boards like this one.

EeBee's room board, not quite Nicole Balch quality

And though the goal of getting the boy moved into his room (and getting that room furnished of course) has been accomplished, I have accomplished little else.

So I’m officially declaring June to be The Month of Selling All the Stuff.

Yes, I mean ALL of the stuff.  AAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL of it.

(If you’re new here, learn more about this stuff we’re selling, or see our transactions page to see what we’ve sold so far.)

Never mind that I declared last October/November/December as the months to sell all the stuff.  Or that I was thinking of declaring the same for January, and then February, but didn’t because I knew it wouldn’t happen.

What’s different about June is that my husband is on summer break from teaching, meaning I have an extra slave to help me.

We have a reasonable eBay pile to deal with, a few trips to make to the used bookstore, some furniture to sell on Craigslist, and, oh darn, this massive pile of CDs to post on Half.com.  I’d forgotten about those.

I also have two new experiences to navigate:

  1. Selling to the consignment store, and
  2. Selling some gold jewelry.

Can I handle two new experiences in one month? I don’t know, you’ll have to follow along to see if I survive.

This will require our best organizational efforts to date. We’ll need to make a list and stick to it. We may even need to break out a calendar.  We’ll definitely need to fight our lazy urges that come so readily at the end of a long week.

But I think it’s doable. Do you?

  3. I’ll be interested in how it goes with selling gold jewellry, I’ve thought about that often but afraid I’ll get taken to the cleaners. If anyone can do it, it’s you!

  4. Good luck!!! Get organized and get money and pay off debt and wooooo!

I wanna see this post updated with good news: http://mintingnickels.com/2011/03/business/ !
