Sunday Snippets: A, Um, Giveaway!?

Last Wednesday was my 6 month blog birthday.

It’s common practice in the blog world for one to host a giveaway for their blogiversary.

So I was thinking I could possibly host one too.

But since I’m not a very big, I don’t have any sponsors to offer up cool treats.

But I do have this car to give away…

Flaming Bus, gift giving

Wait, maybe I can’t let this one go, it’s a little too sentimental.

How about some Yo! MTV Raps trading cards?

(These aren't worth anything, I checked)

This is turning into the world’s lamest giveaway, isn’t it. They don’t teach this sort of thing in blog school.

How about something that I can give to each and every one of you, for free, no giveaway required.

It’s is my latest zen image…

This is my iBooks shelf.  It’s empty because I’m too cheap to buy any books, and all of the free books are lame.

I find that I get a sense of calm gazing into this image.  No clutter, no toys to pick up, nothing collecting dust, nothing to worry about.  Just bare bliss.

But then, it’s also lacking in books, which signifies a lack of knowledge, so if I sit and think about it too long, my zen moment becomes a little confusing.

Either way, I hope you get some good use out of it too.

Niki at Debt Free by Thirty also had her 6 month blog birthday on Wednesday.  That means we’re blog twinkies.  I’m proud of this fact because she is awesome.  She had a much better birthday post than I, you should go check it out.  I feel like bursting into a chorus of “Sisters” from White Christmas.

Speaking of giveaways, you should see this one from Chrystal at Budgeting in the Fun Stuff. It’s her one year blogiversary and she’s giving away $600 worth of prizes!  You should hop over there and sign up before midnight, March 6th.

This is an older post, but it fit’s with today’s theme, The Financial Blogger writes his 6 Biggest Mistakes He Made with His Blogs. Like hosting a lame giveaway, maybe?

Happy Sunday…oooh, and happy Oscar night!  I love torturing my husband with the red carpet preshow.

  • Thanks for the link, you are too kind.
Yo! MTV Raps trading cards? This is making me grin ear to ear. I didn’t even know these things existed.

    • Lindy

You are very welcome for the link.
I didn’t know these trading cards existed either until we ordered some t-shirts from a small printer and they threw a bunch of packs into our order. It was the best surprise ever and led to at least one whole dinner’s worth of entertainment.

  • LMAO!They don’t teach this in blogger school! That was hilarious! Happy 6 month Blogiversary! Is that how you say that? I wonder if it’s in Urban Dictionary…hmm. Loved your last post about your millionaire friend. Since I’m currently in school and I’m about to start an unpaid internship, there isn’t really much money coming in for me. For the first time in my life I’ve had to tell myself- I can’t afford it. Shocking, I know. It really put things into perspective for me because I always felt like I had to live up to a certain image for myself to an extent-even if that image was just spending 80 dollars at the grocery store on just snacks, etc because I could. Your post was certainly inspirational and it left me thinking. Anyway, enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

It is in the Urban Dictionary, here. I’ve also seen it spelled “blogoversary.” I have no idea which one is right. Thanks for your comment, and the kind words of course. :)

  • There’s a blogging school? – oh crap! Actually it was through Niki that I found your blog. Congratulations on 6 great months in blogdom:)

  • Lenes

Happy 6th. I will you many more. I thought I was the only person who loved the song sisters from white christmas. My sister’s and I saw this movie when we were little girls and learned to sing it in three part harmony. Thanks for bringing back a nice memory. Again, happy 6th.

    • Lindy

Wow, sisters singing “Sisters” in three part harmony!? How fun! I only have one real life sister, so the best we could do is two.

Your ibooks shelf is empty, and the free books are lame? You have no idea what you’re missing out on! There are all kinds of free book downloads in pdf format that are awesome ~ I’ve gotten cookbooks that I use frequently, and even frugal planning books. Try watching livingonadime, (which is how I found you) and moneysavingmom for free book announcements.

ibooks is my go-to spot whenever I get a pdf file that I want to refer to again from any source…love the way I can see it on the bookshelf without having to look for a filename and hope I find the right one.

Love your blog, btw, glad I found it and am going to add you to my reader :)

    • Lindy

I only started “using” ibooks within the past few weeks. I think I’m hesitant of adding new books because I like the uncluttered shelf so much! But you just inspired me to dig a little deeper. You can store pdf’s on there??? I must learn more.

PS: I’m glad you found my little ol’ blog too.

  • *chuckle* I get such a kick out of visiting your blog, Lindy. happy blogiversary!!

    • Lindy

      Aw shucks. Thanks!
